Happy Birthday Nathan

Here is the cake that I made for Nathan's 16th birthday! Everybody laughed and loved it. The green is supposed to be grass that she is standing in, but it would have looked better if I had done the whole thing purple.

Camping - July 14

Stuart and I decided to go up a day early - since I wasn't scheduled. He planned and cooked dinner - as a scout requirement. He did a great job. It tasted pretty darn good. I also taught him how to use the water purifier. So we had really really cold water! We had to put koolaid in - otherwise, it had a bit of a charcoal flavor.

So.. Liz and I were trying to encourage each other to get our stuff done - the cleaning projects that you just don't want to deal with.... so here are the before images.....

Strawberry Jam

We have been busy! and it is just starting! We made 13 batches of strawberry jam -(and all of the berries came out of our garden!) 79 jars worth - at $4 a jar? I think the strawberries have been a good investment!!

We made one batch of Marionberry syrup as well.

Stuart - and the Garter

Yes .... my eleven year old caught the garter belt. And, as you can see, really got into the spirit of things - diving after it and fighting his uncle for it. The surprising part? Is that as they were calling up the single guys - Stuart had to ask his dad "What's a garter?" I'm not old enough for this!

Craigs Cake Part 2

here is the cake---- all ready to go tomorrow - I still have to put the flowers on - there is an arrangment for the top = but I am leaving the space between the pillars open - so that you can see the beautiful scroll work
