Driving.

Joseph and I were talking the other day, and realized, that in just over a yr, Stuart will have his permit (that is a terrifying thought).  I'm thinking its time to take him to parking lots, and have him start practicing, since he can't even start the car yet successfully.   So, as soon as all of the snow is gone, that's another one of our summer projects.

So, just a thought?  if you see us over at the Church Parking lot, you might want to stay away.

We'll keep you posted.

Cupcakes

I saw these done up online, and thought I'd give them a try. Sorry I didn't adjust the color on the pic - was in a hurry.

Aren't they cute?

The kids are still working on naming them... so far, we have Princess, Jackie, and Betty Boop.  Don't ask which is which.

Planning for Summer Projects

ok... I need an opinion.  Here are the styles we are thinking about using to tile the backsplash in my kitchen.  The counters will remain a medium/darkish counter top - so I want to stick with lighter tiling.  What I want here, is a vote for HOW the tile is put up.  So ignore the black counter top.

As for the last picture - I like this,  (most being horizontal, and this section being onpoint) but I'm not sure it would look good with the space I have - or, if would, just as a rectangle, not a square due to space contraints.

I am also going to be re-painting.  The paint is starting to look worn - so here are the colors at this point.
I'm thinking someting lighter, like Glidden's Whispering Wheat (4th column from left, second row) I want to put this in the halls, living room and kitchen. -ESPECIALLY places that share corners, or are connected on an out side corner.  I just want to lighten things up a bit.

On one wall in the kitchen, (becuase I love color) - I'm thinking a plum - like Gliddens Delicious Plum (last column last row)  Use the tool they have to see it on walls.  As for the my kitchen, I want to just paint the wall that the Door and sink is on.  So it would only be above the cabinets, around the window, down to the tile and to the corner (which can't ever be seen, because at that point it is above the cabinet - makes for a cleaner line.

http://www.glidden.com/color/color-visualizer.do#path=colorPalette&cid0=&cid1=250&cid2=126&cid3=126&cid4=&cid5=&cid6=126&cid7=&cid8=

I think I want to accent with color in the way I decorate - and maybe in the bedrooms.  I think I'll make the guest room more neutral (and make fun colorful quilts for the bed to add color - they can be swapped out)

ok/.... tell me what everyone thinks

Catch up

Hmm... this should be quick - I don't have a lot of time, but with everything I needed to add, I doubt I'll manage short and sweet.  This weekend has been great - and really busy.  Mom and Dad flew in on Friday afternoon, and came up to my house for the evening.  Mom and I were able to work on a few UFO's in my sewing room (by the way - those are known as "Un-Finished Objects" -and my sewing room is full of them).  Dad and Stu didn't get to work on much - Dad had to bring work with him, but I guess the sooner he has this project done, the sooner he will retire, and we'll be able to do the stuff we want to.

Saturday we had the opportunity to ordain Stuart to the office of a Teacher.  That is always a special time for a mom - even though it means her baby is growing up.  And in one way - I mean literally UP.  I swear, he grows faster and faster everyday.  He is now over 5'10" and there is no sign of slowing.  I did have a thought saturday night, and that is I am glad to see that he has such a strong circle of men to look up to and learn from.  It was one of those mom moments...

We celebrated his 14th birthday a week ago.  Here are a few pics from that night.  I wish he wouldn't be such a goofball in all of them.  I can't get a decent picture anymore.

Sunday we were at Matt and Crenda's to bless Tanner, who is one darling little boy.  He may actually be growing faster than Stuart.  He's 6 weeks old, and wearing 6 month clothes.  Tall and built like a TANK!

anyway - here are a few pics from the holidays.  I'll put more up soon.
